Every Apple Intelligence features you can try right now
Apple introduced the first version of Apple Intelligence on July 29, 2024. Its artificial intelligence features are designed to increase the performance of Siri, automate email and image generation, and sort notifications.
It was released in the developer beta of iOS 18.1, and similar versions are also available for iPad and Mac. It is currently accessible for developers to test.
To access the service, users will need to register for a waitlist within Apple’s Settings app after updating. This will be available to the public later this year. The 18.1 version number indicates that Apple Intelligence will not launch alongside the new iPhone hardware expected to run iOS 18 in the fall.
Apple Intelligence represents a significant initiative for the company. Investors are optimistic that the integration of AI with Apple’s operating system will drive a substantial wave of upgrades in the coming years, particularly since the system will be compatible only with the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and newer models.Let us discuss the new features of Apple Intelligence in detail:
“Apple Intelligence is going to unlock a world of new possibilities for our users, and it’s thrilling to see our developers begin to build with it. We’re excited to see the amazing things they create.”
Tim Cook, CEO, Apple
Apple Intelligence
To access the Apple Intelligence features, go to Settings > General > Software Update, and you’ll see an option to update to the 18.1 beta. This is only available for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, and your region must be set to US.
Once you’ve updated, go to Settings, and you’ll see a new Apple Intelligence section. Tap on that, and you’ll see a splash screen that talks about the new tools you can use to express yourself.
New Siri UI
This is for registered developers only, and it’s really designed for developers to test these features out so it’s more polished and fine before the official release. Now you’ll see that there’s going to be new Siri features, as you’ve seen in the beginning, how it glows around the phone. That is pretty awesome, looks like something straight out of the future, right there. You’re also going to have some new contextual features in there, where you can talk to Siri in ways that you never could before, where it understands context now.
Feedback Button
In the bottom right-hand corner, you’ll notice a feedback button. Tap on that, and you can share feedback about your experience with Siri. You can tell it how it performed, give it additional information, and even include attachments.
Type to Assistant
When you double-tap the bottom edge of the screen, you’ll get a preview of the home indicator with the new type-to-assistant option. You can type your requests, and Siri will respond accordingly. You can also switch between voice and text commands seamlessly.
Apple Intelligence Writing Tool
One of the impressive features of Apple Intelligence is the writing tool. If you have a paragraph that’s a mess, you can invoke the copy-paste menu, tap on writing tools, and Apple Intelligence will proofread and rewrite the paragraph for you.
You can also choose different styles, such as friendly, professional, or concise. The writing tool is available across multiple apps, not just Mail.
Apple Intelligence Report
In Settings > Security & Privacy, you’ll notice a new Apple Intelligence report. This report provides information on how Apple is using your data, and you can choose to view the report for the last 15 minutes or 7 days.

Auto-Summarized Notifications
Apple intelligence is going to bring auto-summarized notifications, so it’ll give you summaries and breakdowns, especially when you have multiple. I only got a couple here, but when you have multiple notifications, it will summarize those for you, make it a lot more clean, especially the messages a lot longer and stuff like that. So that’s a great new touch as well for this Apple intelligence
Call recording
After updating to the iOS 18.1 beta, users will have the ability to record phone calls and receive the option to transcribe the entire conversation. Additionally, if needed, the feature can provide a summary of the voice call.
ChatGPT
With ChatGPT from OpenAI now integrated into Siri and Writing Tools, you gain enhanced expertise without needing to switch between different applications. Siri can leverage ChatGPT for specific tasks, such as answering questions about photos or documents. Additionally, the Compose feature in Writing Tools allows you to create and illustrate original content from scratch. You have full control over when ChatGPT is used, and you will be asked for permission before any of your information is shared. ChatGPT is accessible to everyone for free, with no account creation necessary. Subscribers can connect their accounts to access paid features within these integrations.
Genmoji
With Genmoji, users can quickly generate fun and original images based on descriptions, concepts, or photos from their library. The tool allows for style adjustments to fit various contexts, like messages, freeform boards, or Keynote slides. Users can experiment with different styles, including animation, illustration, and sketching, and share their creations on social media.
Additionally, users can create personalized Genmojis directly from the keyboard by providing a description or using photos. The Image Wand feature in the Notes app can transform rough sketches into related images by analyzing the surrounding content.
In the Photos app, custom memory movies can be created by entering a description. Apple Intelligence selects the best photos and videos, organizes them into a narrative, and searches for specific moments in videos based on user descriptions.
